What is This All About?
We want to play more games. We want you to play more games too. We want it to be easier to get games played.
Mission
We think that board games are pretty great. Sometimes a little additional information or explanation is desired or needed to better enjoy and appreciate a game.
We found ourselves creating supplemental content for the games we love most. Player aids, rules summaries, notes in the margins and we thought that sharing these more broadly could be helpful to others as well. We also liked the idea of creating digital, web-based, responsive, accessible versions of the ancilary content we were creating. After a few one-off projects to we decided that putting everything in one organized place might be a good idea.
Cardboard Appendix was our solution. Hopefully, the content within is useful, helpful, supportive, and encouraging for you to play more games. Play games that seemed imposing at first glance, that you haven't played in a while, or that might still be in shrink.
On Unsolicited Redesigns
Nothing that we are doing is a criticism of the games we cover as they were published, their designers, nor their publishers. We are not striving to produce "unsolicted redesigns" of others' work. We are attempting to take things we love and enjoy and make them better, more accessible, and more digital than they were found in their original form.
We acknowledge that we are not working under the same constraints, limitations, in the same mediums (print), etc. as the original creators. We are simply trying to take work we love and enjoy and make it a little bit easier to break out those heavy games and get them played.
What Games We Cover
We have no hope of covering every or even most games that release each year. We want to focus on those big pillars of the heavy gaming realm. We also want to focus on the obscure and hidden gems that might not get as much support on the BGG file section.
We will likely not cover things that don't need the same additional support as some of the heavier games out there.
